WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TRAVEL TO MALIBU?

I'm currently based in LA for the summer so I have spent a lot of time in Malibu over the past couple of months. There is something special about Malibu’s calm energy that reminds me of home in Aus. Honestly, I kinda just love driving fown PCH along the beach listening to my music in the car. You really can’t beat the little beaches, coffee spots, cute yoga studios and hike trails there there as well.

ANY TRAVEL HACKS? JET LAG REMEDIES?

If I can I always love to get in an infrared sauna whenever I get off a long haul flight. Plenty of water to hydrate. A long walk around whatever city I have landed in and then hopefully I can push through the day without a nap to get on the current timezone.

WHAT TO DO?

The Malibu country mart is the cutest spot to check out and has lots of great shops all in one. Some of my favourites are - Sunlife organics for the best acai bowl. Taverna Tony for a great greek meal or Malibu Seafood fresh fish market for a snack on the way home if youre after something a little more low key. Don’t forget Nobu Malibu for people watching and a lychee martini right on the water (try and get a table outside on the deck) Also if you’ve got a little more time to explore in the area Topanga is a beautiful quaint little town and only about 20 mins from Malibu. Ethereal Yoga Studio is great for a very authentic yoga class and there are lots of great little cafes and local shops to explore around the area (Topanga Living Cafe is great!). If you’re there on a sunday the Malibu Farmers Market is also lovely to check out.

OF ALL YOUR TRAVELS, WHICH DESTINATION HAS COLOURED YOUR ATTITUDE TO LIFE? AND WHY?

Honestly, every travel experience I have is special in one way or an other. I get so much out of travelling whether if I am on my own and meeting new people or travelling with friends and family and making special memories along the way. One destination that stands out to me specifically is when I travelled with my mum to India last year. We went on a yoga retreat and travelled around the Golden Triangle and it was both our first time in India. The whole experience was pretty insane and unforgettable. From the beautiful kind locals, the food (and the chai!!!!!), the bright colourful buildings (especially in Jaipur) the local flowers markets in Delhi and the spectacular Taj Mahal just to name a few… It was very different to any place I had ever been before and I think that was part of the appeal. I already can’t wait to go back and spend some more time exploring.
